Drawingroom Session (the vibey one with the shadow)

$1,111.00

“Drawingroom Session (the vibey one with the shadow)”

by Joel Barber

Original 1/1 acrylic painting on canvas

30x40 inches

It’s a lofi jazz jam station, ready for some improvisational grooves, painted with acrylic brush and spray paint; lounge vibes and old photograph feel. Many layers of painterly brushwork and a tiny bit of masking on the buttons. I really enjoyed working this palette of magenta, purple and burnt orange and playing with mixed light sources and shadows. I really tried to be more loose and gestural in this series so I decided to map it out by hand and not use and stencils. I used a palette knife as much as I could. I think it’s a successful balance of me trying to keep it loose and also always obsessing the edges of all the shapes.

In case you’re wondering, the groove boxes are based on the Boss sp-202 sampler (aka Dr. Sample), the Boss Dr-202 (aka Dr.Groove), Tascam cassette tape recorder and a Yamaha electric piano (CP-35).

The painting is high quality artist acrylic paint on archival hand stretched canvas on wooden frame. The sides are painted black and it’s ready to hang or suitable for framing. Signed on the back in airbrush.

I’d prefer to sell this locally. I’ll enter the size and weight and we can discuss options if you definitely want it shipped.

There’s clips of this in progress on my instagram and time lapse videos in my stories.

Check out print options as well, for reproduction prints of this image and most of the other paintings in this series.

Thank you!
